IU (born Lee Ji-eun) is a South Korean singer, songwriter and actress. She gave her first performance on Mnet's M Countdown on September 18, 2008, with "미아", and released her first EP, Lost and Found, on September 24. She is signed to EDAM Entertainment.
As an actress she is credited under her birth name, Lee Ji-eun.
1.Debut and "Good Day" (2008–2010)
After her 2008 debut and the studio album Growing Up (2009), IU released the EP REAL on December 9, 2010. It was led by the single "Good Day" (좋은 날).
2.Studio albums and remakes (2011–2017)
IU released the studio albums Last Fantasy (November 29, 2011) and Modern Times (October 8, 2013), followed by her first remake album, A Flower Bookmark, in 2014.
The EP CHAT-SHIRE came out on October 23, 2015, and her fourth studio album, Palette, on April 21, 2017.
3.LILAC (2021)
Her fifth studio album, LILAC, was released on March 25, 2021.
4.Stadium concerts and world tour (2022–2024)
On September 17–18, 2022, IU held the concert The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun at Seoul Olympic Stadium, the first Korean female artist to perform there.
She released the EP The Winning on February 20, 2024, and went on the HEREH World Tour. It ended in September 2024 with encore concerts at Seoul World Cup Stadium, where she became the first female artist to perform.
5.Recent music (2025–2026)
IU released her third remake album, A Flower Bookmark 3 (꽃갈피 셋), on May 27, 2025, and the digital single "Bye, Summer" on September 10, 2025.
Exactly one year later, at 6 p.m. KST on September 10, 2026, she released the single Unknown Planet (이 별로부터). Both songs, "Unknown Planet" and "Dear my crazy soulmate", are title tracks.
6.Acting
IU's film Broker (2022), directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, competed at the Cannes Film Festival. For the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines (March 2025), opposite Park Bo-gum, she won Best Actress at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards.
